Sharon VandeCastle

October 29, 1942 — September 24, 2017

Sharon Ann VandeCastle, age 74, of Weyauwega, entered eternal life on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Crossroads Care Center in Weyauwega. Sharon was born on October 29, 1942 in Oshkosh, daughter of the late Frank and Germaine (Dolan) Holdren. She married James VandeCastle on June 16, 1962. They enjoyed over 50 years together, until his passing in 2012: first as high school sweethearts, then as husband and wife, and then as the loving parents of five children. Sharon's greatest desire in life was to be a loving wife and Mom. Sharon and Jim's goal was to build a strong and faith-filled foundation for their family which they accomplished by all accounts. Sharon was a stay at home Mom but also managed the family's small business raising Labrador Retrievers for a number of years. She also was a talented and creative artist who enjoyed making Christmas cards, drawing, painting and many types of crafts. She was most happy at home during family get-togethers. She loved her country home and her wonderful neighbors in the Berkans Road subdivision. She also enjoyed her volunteer work with St. Anne's Society at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega, until her health declined.

Survivors include her five children and their families: Kerry (Joe) Dereszynski, Kelly (Michael) Kneisler, Mark (Kathy) VandeCastle, Michael (Dawn) VandeCastle, Matthew (Melisa) VandeCastle; grandchildren: Emily and Eric Kneisler; Anthony, Aaron and Alec VandeCastle; Kayleigh and Elise VandeCastle; and Mollie and Thomas Dereszynski; brother-in-law: John (Joan) VandeCastle and their sons: John and James and their families, along with her special cousins Donna Worth and Lyle (Betty) Dolan. She is further survived by her best friend since 2012, her Maltese rescue, Benji.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

The Memorial Mass for Sharon will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega with Fr. Xavier Santiago officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place AT THE CHURCH on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. and also on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Sharon's name.

Sharon's family would like to sincerely thank all of the caring and kind employees at Crossroads Care Center in Weyauwega. You took such great care of Mom and us. Many thanks also to the other health care professionals (too many to mention) who helped Mom over the past 10 months.

Mom, you were our first best friend, greatest supporter, confidant and cheerleader. We will forever miss you but are glad your pain and suffering are over and you are back by Dad's side in heaven. Our family will stay close and assure your legacy will continue.

Love you Mummy!
