Sadie L. Knaack

December 30, 1919 — August 20, 2018

Sadie Louise Knaack went to be with her Lord on August 20, 2018. She was born December 30, 1919 in Town of Crystal Lake, Marquette County, to the late Herman and Martha (Guderjahn) Dretzke. Baptized January 11, 1920, confirmed Zion Lutheran Church August 1933 and graduated Neshkoro High School 1937. She married Wilbert E. Knaack October 15, 1939 in Zion Lutheran Church, Neshkoro. He preceded her in death November 19, 1983. They lived in Endeavor and Princeton before moving to Manawa in 1958.

Sadie was employed at Handcraft Company in Princeton, Hansen Glove of Clintonville, and then was employed at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King as a Nursing Assistant for 15 years. She retired in 1982. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa and active in Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, attending Bible Studies and faithful in her worship. She enjoyed reading, travel, walking, and going to rummage sales. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her much joy. She enjoyed helping others and doing volunteer work. She delivered Meals on Wheels for 20 years and retired from doing that at age 85. She also worked on the Election Board for many years.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Lola, of Rural Tigerton; Anita (Ronald) Kutella of Bend, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Knaack of Sun City, Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Zaug of Forest Hills, NY; Kristine Zaug of Downers Grove, IL; Douglas (Beth) Kutella of Lake Oswego, OR; Ryan (Cydney) Knaack of Sun Prairie, WI; and Rita (Adam) Napieralski of Oak Creek, WI; 13 great children Quinton, Bronson, & Cooper George, Duncan & Colin Zaug, Liam, Nolan & Declan Kutella, Elly & Porter Napieralski, Alana Knaack, Margo & Emmy Levanetz; Sisters-in-law Eleanor Dretzke & Margaret Ceman and many nieces nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by husband, Wilbert; son, Dennis; parents, son-in-law, Dale Zaug; brother, Carl Dretzke; Sister, Lucille; a brother in infancy; brothers-in-law, Karl Knaack, Richard Ceman, Mabert Groskreutz, and sister-in-law, Mildred Groskreutz.

The funeral for Sadie will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Nathan Reichle officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Sadie will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Memorials appreciated to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, Manawa.

The family would like to thank the staff at Living Oaks in Iola and Southern Care Hospice for their loving care of Sadie.
