Magdalen H. Trantow

March 8, 1930 — September 11, 2021

Magdalen H. Trantow, age 91, passed away on September 11, 2021, at Bethany Nursing Home in Waupaca, Wisconsin, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Magdalen was born March 8, 1930 in Wausau, to the late Hugo and Helen Vetter. She married Franklin Trantow on Sept. 10, 1949. Frank was the love of her life. They moved to Manawa in 1959 when Frank and his brother started Trantow Hardware. This was family operated for the next 35 years. Frank and Magdalen also owned and operated the Edge of Town for 20 years. Magdalen was the head cook and quite exceptional at it.

Magdalen's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife and mother of 9 children. She had many green thumbs and was an excellent cook and baker. Her family and friends will always remember her as a very giving, loving, accepting and hard working woman. A "farmer's daughter" as she would often say, since she was raised on a dairy farm outside of Marathon City. She was the best mom in the world and had a heart filled with love that goes beyond words.

Magdalen will be missed very much by her family. Her sons: Michael (Lucy), Chris (Carol) and Timothy (Tonia) all of Manawa. Her daughters: Connie (Joe) Havlovick, Rockford, IL, Karen Dorn-Gilson (Steve Gilson), Neenah, Debbie (Allan) Tierney, Winneconne, and Mary (Glen) Getchell, Seminole, FL; grandchildren: Stacey (Jamie) Livermore, Jacob (Sherry) Trantow, Matthew (Brianne) Trantow, Jason Havlovick, Jon Dorn, Nathan Dorn (Patrick Rogalski), Lance and Landon Buchholtz, David (Megan) Trantow and Jennifer (Alex) Gidal; great-grandchildren: John Acevedo, Caleb Trantow, Madelynn and Easton Livermore, Maxwell and Bennett Trantow, Fox and Cameron, Dorn; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jacob, Tony, Brandon, MaKenna, Nikki, Oceana, Rayna and Aurora Tierney.

Magdalen mournfully observed the passing of many that she loved. Her soulmate and husband, Frank, son Jeffrey, daughter Annette and grandson Bryan Dorn; siblings: Dorothy (John) Brezinski, Fred (Norma) Vetter, Erna (Bill Rader), George (Ann) Vetter and Joan (Roger) Wachtl.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Home for the many years of wonderful care. Special thanks to ThedaCare Hospice for all their assistance.

A private family service will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral & Cremation Care of Manawa is assisting the family with arrangements.
