Georgia Wiegert

May 24, 1930 — January 7, 2023

Georgia E. Wiegert, age 92, of Ogdensburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday January 7, 2023. Georgia was born to Jesse and Hannah Rice in 1930 in the Town of St. Lawrence, Waupaca County.

Georgia worked at Sturm's in Manawa and then was employed by Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield. She then moved to Madison to work in a law firm. She was then hired by Kiekhaefer Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac. She married LeRoy Wiegert on August 1, 1959 in Fond du Lac and in 1963 they moved to Appleton where they raised 4 children.

After she married she worked at several other law offices. She retired in 1992 from Outagamie County as a Judicial Assistant. Georgia and Lee then moved to Ogdensburg where Georgia grew up.

Georgia was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa and was in LWML. She was a member of several organizations in her career and served as President of Wisconsin Legal Professionals.

Georgia was an ever caring, generous person. If you came to visit with a gift, you also left with a gift. She believed it was more blessed to give than to receive. Everyone who met Georgia was blessed and they all recognized she was a special person. She said the following verse each morning: "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24.

She also lived out 1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing." She prayed for each family member, as well as neighbors and friends daily. She prayed for their safety and that each would have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Georgia is survived by her husband LeRoy; daughter Shari (Kent) Curtis of Eagle River, WI; and son David (Chela) Wiegert of Plymouth, MN; son-in-law Robert Buchanan of Spring Green, WI; son-in-law Ed Bemis of Plainfield, IL; sister Charlotte Weber of Manitowoc, WI; and sister-in-law Marilyn Ossian of Appleton, WI. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Georgia is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Hannah, six older siblings, and two daughters Nanci Buchanan and Patti Bemis.
