Erin Jo Hartfiel

October 15, 1980 — January 19, 2021

Erin Jo Hartfiel, age 40, of Weyauwega, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 with her mom by her side at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah from Tuberous Sclerosis. She was born on October 15, 1980 to Bonnie and Larry Hartfiel. Erin was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega where she was a life-long member. Erin attended St. Peter Lutheran grade school and graduated from Weyauwega-Fremont High School with the class of 1999. Erin was employed at Waupaca County Industries until it was closed down. She was also employed at Weyauwega-Fremont Schools where she worked in the kitchen on Fridays along-side her mom. She loved both jobs and worked for each one almost 20 years. She was awarded employee of the year at WCI twice and she was so proud of that. She then worked at Valley Packaging and Sturm Foods for a short time until her disease prevented her from working anymore. Erin had a strong work ethic and rarely missed a day of work. She always wanted to be busy and would help anyone if she could.

Erin was a member of Waupaca Area Special Olympics where she participated in bowling and earned several medals. Besides working, Erin was obsessed with the Packers, especially Brett Favre. You could always see her dressed in Packer clothes from head to toe. She was able to attend several Packer games in her short lifetime and always had to go to the Pro-Shop. She attended many Packer Charity Softball games and Family Night.

Erin loved to deer hunt with her Dad, Mitch and Tana and she was so proud when she got a buck one year. Because of the progression of her disease, the last two years she couldn’t go and was so very disappointed. Erin also loved playing bingo at Gills and attending Liebe auctions, always looking for any Packer items. It didn’t pay to bid against her because she wouldn’t stop until she got that special Packer item. Thank you to everyone there who gave Erin Packer things, always being kind and looking out for her. It was so appreciated.

Erin loved Weyauwega, walking around town, going to the drive-in, going to church, the Waupaca Co. Fair, shopping, car rides, visiting family and friends, the Fox River Mall, Garth Brooks and especially her Grandma Bucholtz. Erin was a kind, gentle and hardworking soul. She fought her disease with all her strength, determination, courage and bravery.

Erin is survived by her mother Bonnie (James), Weyauwega; her dad Larry (Chris), Weyauwega; grandmother Lola Hartfiel; two sisters: Andee, Weyauwega and Tana (Mike), Iola; two brothers: Casey, Weyauwega and Mitch (Heidi), Waupaca; a special nephew Hayden, Waupaca, and a very special great-aunt, Irene Steeps of Ripon; also aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Erin was preceded in death by her Grandpa Hartfiel and Grandpa and Grandma Bucholtz.

Because of Covid, a private funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance at 8737 Colesville Rd. Silver Spring, MD 20910, or to the Waupaca Area Special Olympics at N111 Arrowhead Rd., Fremont, WI 54940.

Thank you to all the staff at Partridge House in New London where Erin resided the last year of her life. A very special thank you to Deb Everts who tried so hard to help Erin, it means so much. Thanks also to all the doctors and nurses for the care and concern given to Erin and trying to make her comfortable the last days of her life.

My sweet and beautiful Erin: You were always such a good girl. We did many things together as we had a special bond that will never be broken. You will forever be in my heart. So, no more seizures, no more surgeries, no more pills ever, ever again. You are finally free! My heart is broken, nothing will ever be the same, but remember, “I LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER!” - Mom
