Ellen “Pat” Schuelke, age 81, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Scandinavia where she lived the last two years while she battled dementia. Pat was born on June 22, 1940 in the Town of Royalton, daughter of the late Francis and Agnes (Walbruck) Hanes. Pat was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwins Mill. She loved working outside in her gardens and enjoyed canning the fruits of her labor. Pat made sure her bird feeders were full and knew what each bird was. She liked to go to flea-markets and she lit up at Christmas time. Pat loved family time and was very proud to be a grandma.
She is survived by her children: Wade Stilen, Chad (Barb) Stilen, Troy (Michelle) Stilen, and Bart (Wendy) Schuelke; grandchildren: Tad Stilen, Dezirée Stilen, Levi Stilen, Nyke (William) Block, Nyckol Stilen, Brennon Buck, Jaeden Stilen, Landon Stilen, Hannah Schuelke, Sophia Schuelke and Sawyer Schuelke; two great-grandchildren: Greyson Stilen and Willa Block; sister: Marilyn (Merrill) Larson; brother: Aldi (Shirley) Hanes; sister-in-law: Karen (William) Swanson.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Stilen, who passed away early in their marriage, and second husband, Martin “Mike” Schuelke; sisters: Fran “Honey” Moeller and Sharon Ferge; many other relatives.
A memorial service for Pat will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 1:00 pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwins Mill, (N3882 County Rd KK, Weyauwega), with Rev. Cliff Mast officiating. Burial will be in Shiocton – Bovina Cemetery in the spring. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church on Sunday from 11:30 am until the time of the service.
