Edna Grace Johnson

July 23, 1920 — February 17, 2016

Edna Grace (Reek) Johnson, Waupaca, age 95, died on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Bethany Home in Waupaca after suffering a severe stroke on February 11th. She was born on July 23, 1920, in Marion, Wisconsin, to the late Gustuv and Martha Reek. She was married to Weldon Bussian for 17 years and worked at the Clintonville Nursing home at that time. She then married Glenn Johnson on March 31, 1959, at which time she helped him manage Club 161 for 18 years. They sold Club 161 in 1975 and moved to Manawa. Edna worked at the Manawa Nursing Home until she retired. After Glenn’s death in 1981 she met her long time friend Jim Schmidt, who she lived with until his death in 2013.
Survivors include two sons: David Bussian, Iola; Eddie (Gerry) Johnson, Tucson, Arizona; Four daughters: Mrs. Ronald (Edna Mae) Hudnet, Florida; Wana Bowen, Appleton; Mrs. Robert (Marsha Ann) Moe, Iola; Mrs. Greg (Karen Lee) Golla, Iola; 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her long time live in friend, Jim Schmidt, husband Weldon Bussian, husband Glenn Johnson, parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 daughter and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Edna will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Iola, with Pastor Dennis Olson officiating. You may pay your respects to the families of Edna from 9:30AM Saturday until the time of the funeral. We would like to thank the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, Manawa, for helping with Edna’s funeral arrangements, and Bethany Home and Crossroads Nursing Home of Waupaca for her care the last 2 years.
