Leonard R Riske

October 13, 1913 — June 11, 2007

Age 93, of Manawa, died peacefully on Monday, June 11, 2007, at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. He was born on October 13, 1913 in the Town of Union, son of the late Gustav & Amelia (Heideman) Riske. On January 20, 1940, he married Bernice E. Timmel in Bear Creek. She preceded him in death in 1993. Leonard and Bernice owned and operated the Maple Grove Dairy Farm in the Town of Union from 1940-1964. He then worked at FWD in Clintonville, and also drove school bus for the Manawa School District. He was a life-long member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco, where he served as a trustee and an elder. He was the treasurer of the Marble Cheese Factory and the Dellwood School Board. He was a Supervisor for the Town of Union and also served as the Town Chairman. He was a charter member of the Symco Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. Leonard loved to go fishing in Canada. He is survived by a daughter: Mary Ann (Jerry) Genson, Wautoma; a son-in-law: Larry Nelson, Shawano; grandchildren: Todd Dehn, Suamico; Bryan Nelson, Chicago; Bradley Nelson, Shawano; a brother-in-law: Douglas Timmel, Bear Creek; a sister-in-law Margaret Michna, Racine. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter Carol Nelson, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. The Christian Funeral for Leonard will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Wally Waite officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, in the Town of Union. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa on Wednesday (TODAY) from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank the Angelus Retirement Community in Clintonville and also the Manawa Community Nursing Center for their wonderful care and concern of Leonard.
