Leonard C. Wohlrabe Sr.

"Ponyman" age 88, of Fremont, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at the New London Family Medical Center. He was born on July 17, 1924, son of the late Leonhard and Fredricka (Glocke) Wohlrabe. On May 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Arlene Lewin. Leonard was a farmer for many years. He also worked 40 years at James River Paper Mill and was owner of A & L Pony Rides. He was a member of the Wisconsin Horse Pullers Association, Wisconsin Harness Horse Racing Association, and the Seniors Card Playing Club of Fremont. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching horse pulling, harness racing and card playing. He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Readfield. He is survived by his wife Arlene; children: Robert Sr. and special friend Sue, Northport; Earl (Marybeth), New London; Lenny Jr. and special friend Shelly, Poy Sippi; Russell (Hazel), Waupaca; Darwin (Sheryl), Fremont; LeRoy, Scandinavia; Darlene and special friend Jim, Ogdensburg; Dianne and special friend Stan, Readfield; Donald (Shannon), Weyauwega; sister-in-law Norma "Stienke" Lewin, West Bend; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, also many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David Wohlrabe, grandson David L. Wohlrabe, great-grandson Jade Wohlrabe, siblings: Earl Wohlrabe, Herbert and Elsie Wohlrabe, Arnold "Pat" Alvina Konow; father and mother-in-law: Alfred and Paulina (Luedtke) Lewin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lester Lewin, Earl and Violet (Voss) Lewin, Allen Lewin and Lawrence and Elsie (Dietz) Lewin. The Christian Funeral for Leonard will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Readfield with Rev. Peter Kesting officiating. Burial will be in Wolf River Cemetery, Town of Wolf River. A Visitation for Leonard will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
