John Drozd

July 22, 1942 — April 20, 2006

Age 63, of Manawa, passed away at his residence, following a brief battle with cancer, on Thursday, April 20, 2006. He was born on July 22, 1942 in Racine, son of the late Adolph & Anna (Gurosh) Drozd. John served his country with the U.S. Armed Forces. John was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and also enjoyed getting his lottery ticket and playing a few scratch-off games. He was well known by registering deer at Mike & Sandy's for over 20 years during deer season. John had been employed at Sara Lee Foods in New London for 23 years. He is survived by his wife Sue of Manawa; his 3 children: Karen (Rick) Bartelt; Pattie (James) Taylor; James (Angel) Drozd; 6 stepchildren: Sandy (Lenny) Stanton, Judy (Tony) Mundy; Jon (Brenda) Kortesmaki; Cathy (Steve) Dain; Jim Kortesmaki and his fiance' Anycia; Denise (Larry) Tully; 2 sisters: Deloris Depatie; Donna (Teri) Heft; a brother-in-law: Ed (Mary) McCauley; 2 sisters-in-law: Georgia (Ted) Cisko; Mary Duddleston; his former wife: Linda (Steve) Petz; special friends: Ned Erickson, Jim Jarapko and Louie Papira. Also many grandchildren, a great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive him. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter Barb Tully and also a granddaughter Elizabeth Irene Stanton. The Funeral Mass for John will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manawa at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bertin Samsa OFM Cap officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in the Town of Union. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa on Monday, April 24, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
