Frieda E. Marcy

(nee Justman) Sohr-Marcy of Manawa was called into the arms of the Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 13, 2008. She was 102 years old. She was born May 5, 1906 to Herman and Bertha (Siefert) Justman in the Town of Washington, Shawano County. She graduated and was confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano and graduated from Shawano High School. Frieda taught for 10 years at rural schools in the area. Frieda was united in marriage to Robert C. Sohr on June 1, 1926. He preceded her in death in 1942. Frieda moved to Manawa in 1947 where she taught at St. Paul Lutheran School for 5 years. On October 14, 1949 she married Leonard E. Marcy at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. He preceded her in death in 1988. Frieda was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manawa and St. Paul's Ladies Aid. She was also a member and corresponding secretary of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, North Wisconsin District. Frieda was very active in the Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years. Survivors include her son: Robert T. Sohr, Mundeline, Illinois; daughter-in-law: Viann Marcy, Manawa; three grandchildren: Dr. Michael (Jane) Marcy, New London; Patric Marcy, Black River Falls; Robin (Dennis) Glocke, Manawa; four great grandchildren: Mandi (Nathan ) Beck, New London; Ashlee Glocke( Tim Jacobsen), Appleton; Nathan and Peter Marcy, New London and a great-great grandson: Benjamin Everett Beck, New London. She is further survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Elsie, Leona, Dora, Rose, Florine and Florence and brother Edward; her first husband: Robert C. Sohr; infant daughter: Marvel Dadwn Sohr; her second husband: Leonard Marcy and son-in-law, Robert Marcy. The Christian funeral service for Frieda will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday September 16, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 750 Depot St., Manawa, WI with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa. There will be a visitation at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
