Ethan 'Chief' Welch

ETHAN "Chief" WELCH Fremont, WI Ethan passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 28, 2015. He was born August 2, 1936, in Brookfield, IL to Ethan and Emma (Stuenkel) Welch. Ethan moved to Fremont at the age of 9 where he joined Hope United Church of Christ and loved singing in the church choir. He married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Sharon Vogt, on December 17, 1955. Together they have three children, Norene (Jay) Ernst, Kevin Ethan (Pam) Welch, and Kerry (Mick) Jones. Two grandchildren, Whitney Welch and Bryce Ethan (Kelley) Welch and one great grandson, Wyatt Ethan Welch. One step granddaughter Heather Jones, three step great grandchildren Rebecca, Isaac, and Sarah Jones. He is further survived by his sisters Adrienne (Thomas) Going and his twin sister Edna Welch, sister-in-law Jackie Swindle, and his lifelong friend Dave Kinsman. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Esther, Marilyn, Beatrice, and his step grandson James. Ethan spent his entire career as a well driller. He and his wife Sharon owned Wells By Welch until their retirement in 2004. Ethan lived life to the fullest in everything he did. Whether it was deer hunting, boat or snowmobile racing, water or down-hill skiing, and most importantly being a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa. The Celebration of Ethan's Life will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Hope United Church of Christ, Fremont, WI at 2 PM. While we have been left with a large void in our lives, we are blessed to fill it with many fun and wonderful memories. Remember Dad, when a fast boat goes down the river, yours will always be the fastest and loudest! Love you always.
