Life Legacy
Age 79, New London passed away peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. Joseph Residence in New London. She was born on April 21, 1930, daughter of late Howard and Mildred Oertel.
Alice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kathie Wittig, New London; her grandsons, Brandon Wittig (special friend Danielle Kamba) and Ryan Wittig, both of New London. She is further survived by a sister, Nancy (Bob) Visocky, New London; a brother, Richard (Marilyn) Oertel, New London and a brother, Howard Oertel, Madison. She is also survived by a stepdaughter, Tammy Friday, Oklahoma; and her family, nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Ron Wittig.
Alice was a caring and generous person. Alice worked hard all of her life. She had a life of ups and downs, but always tried to make the best of things. Her strong will and character will always be remembered. She loved feeding and watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds and cardinals. She loved flowers, especially roses (and carnations because they lasted so long)! She loved trips to the casinos with her many friends. She loved the fresh fish that Mike and the boys would catch for her. She loved US! And we loved her.
A Memorial service will he held for Alice on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Northport Ostrander Cemetery in the spring.
Mike and Kathie would like to thank all of the staff at St. Joseph Residence for the wonderful care that Alice received while she was there. Alice was treated with the respect and dignity that she deserved. Everyone we came to know there was caring and compassionate. We truly appreciate everything that you have done for us and for Alice. THANK YOU.
Mom… Gramma…, We love you and miss you and always will. Although you are no longer here with us, you will remain in our thoughts and in our hearts forever.
