Biography

Age 72, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010 with her family by her side. She was born January 1, 1938 in New London, daughter of the late Allen and Lucille (Blank) Burns.

Betty married Nathan L. Ritchie on June 6, 1956 and enjoyed 27 years before his death on November 16, 1983. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty also loved her shopping trips.

She will be sadly missed by her children, David Ritchie, Doug Ritchie, both of Shiocton; Diane (John) Carpenter, Shiocton; Sharon (Bob) Henry, Shiocton, Brian (Linda) Ritchie, Shiocton; Bruce Ritchie, Shiocton, Christine (Mike) Dennee, Shiocton; Carrie (Dean) Bedor, Shiocton; Thomas (Virgina) Ritchie, Clintonville; Duane Ritchie, Shiocton. Grandchildren: Christopher Ritchie, Michael Ritchie, Tammy (Billy) Collar, Tina (Clint) Morack, Tanya (Jeremy) Hemann, John C. (Tonya) Carpenter, Brittney Ritchie, Ashley Ritchie, Allyssa Ritchie. Eight great grandchildren. Brothers, Bobby (Kay) Burns, Jimmy Burns (special friend Judy), and a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Burns. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and a very special friend, Karen Massey.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nathan, a brother, Allen (Jr.) Burns, a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Harvey Bluemke.

The family would like to say thank you to the staff at New London Family Medical Center, and a very special thank you to Debbie. Also a special thank you goes out to four of Betty’s granddaughters: Tammy, Tina, Tanya and Britney for all your loving and extra help with grandma.

Funeral services for Betty will be held Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Shiocton at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
